Vince Pope has built an admirable reputation as both film composer and releasing artist, creating music at the intersection of sophisticated neo-classical melodies and flawless electronics and beat production.
In 1999, Vince co-founded Beetroot Music and began writing music for television commercials. Over the past two decades, Vince has worked on numerous high profile campaigns for brands including Nike, BMW, Guinness, Honda, John Smiths and Walkers, winning several prestigious industry awards along the way.
In 2011 Vince was nominated for a BAFTA and went on to win the RTS Award for Best Original Score for his score on the second series of Channel 4‘s Misfits. The same year, Vince scored his first feature film, My Angel, starring Timothy Spall and Brenda Blethyn, for director Stephen Cookson. Since then, Vince has scored the multi award-winning Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh, the first two series of Bedlam (Red Productions), five series of the critically acclaimed Misfits (Clerkenwell Films for C4), Bluestone 42, a situation comedy of army life in Afghanistan for the BBC, Great Night Out, a comedy series by Hat Trick for ITV, and Be Right Back, from Netflix/Channel 4‘s dystopian sci-fi series Black Mirror.
In 2015, Vince scored Paul Abbott‘s No Offence, the second series of You, Me & Them for Hat Trick; The Gamechangers, a dramatisation of the making of the Grand Theft Auto video games starring Daniel Radcliffe, and the big-screen hit comedy, Bad Education: The Movie, written by and starring Jack Whitehall. In 2016, Vince delivered the score for new E4 comedy The Aliens, and the BBC1 ratings hit Undercover, starring Sophie Okonedo. He continued with series two of No Offence in 2017, as well as scoring the critically acclaimed psychological thriller, Vuelven, (also known as Tigers Are Not Afraid).
Over the past few years Vince has scored the period drama Rebellion for Sundance TV/Netflix, Sky’s Bounty Hunters, starring Jack Whitehall and Aisling Bea and Sharon Horgan’s comedy drama This Way Up.
Vince scored the Sky crime series, Wolfe; the BBC Two feature film, My Name Is Leon, and ITV/Prime Video‘s drama Riches. Most recently, Vince’s scores include ITV’s mini-series You & Me, and Channel 4’s darkly-comic prison drama Screw, which returned for series 2 in August 2023.
His next project is the fourth season of the HBO crime-drama anthology series True Detective: Night Country, starring Jodie Foster, which is due to premiere on 14th January 2024.
As a recording artist, Vince released his debut album, Messages in 2019 on the newly formed imprint Autumn Equinox. Vince has gone on to release 2019’s Awakening; and the EP, Three Days Until Tomorrow in 2020. His latest release is Together Apart: conceived and recorded in lockdown, and collaborating with artists from a wide range of countries, the songs on the album were all composed remotely, via Zoom, emails and the telephone, culminating in a beautiful anthology of ambient music.
