Mafro

There’s a delightful breadth to Mafro’s music, but one common thread is woven through all his work; he makes downtempo dance music stretched and warped by electronics.

Having travelled the world working with artists as diverse as Ella Eyre, The Kooks and TSHA, Mafro was drawn back to his first love: electronica. Rave reviews of his early demos convinced him of his work’s potential. His first official EP is the result, a complex, thoughtful collection of songs built for dark nights and desolate spaces. Inspired by the likes of James Blake, Tourist, Jacques Greene and Jon Hopkins, Mafro blends elements of all in intricate new ways.

As a producer for others Mafro has co-written with Ninja Tune‘s TSHA which have received strong support from Bonobo, Pete Tong and the wider electronica community. Other production credits include bedroom pop band The Stiir, Kali Claire and Golds – all of which have received BBC Radio One support.

Mafro has also worked alongside Sean Paul and Dua Lipa for the Baywatch trailer and had numerous commercial placements with his bespoke compositions for brands such as MTV, Coca Cola, E4, Santal and Unilever. Most recently his work has been featured in Hulu‘s Emmy award nominated Little Fires Everywhere.

As a composer, Mafro has worked alongside TSHA on the Big Talk Channel 4 comedy, I Hate You. His EP Bloom was released in 2022.
