Ben studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where he wrote for Film and Live Performance. He frequently collaborated with The Drama Centre, writing music for a variety of plays, where he developed an interest in creating musical sound worlds that were part of a narrative. Ben also worked with choreographers and his commission with Transitions Dance Company is currently on display as part of the Theatre and Performance Collections at the V&A.
Since graduating Ben has worked extensively in film and TV, contributing arrangements and additional music for The Wedding Guest, Deep State Season 2 and Greed as well as assisting on Wild Bill and Deep State Season 1. Ben has acted as Music Editor on a number of titles, including the Hugh Laurie-starring BBC drama, Roadkill. In 2022, Ben co-scored The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe for Story Films & ITV, alongside Harry Escott. The score was released by Silva Screen Records with the series TX.
Ben has scored Here Comes Hell, a debut feature from Jack Mchenry which played at a number of festivals including Glasgow & London FrightFest, Seattle (SFF) and Sydney (SFF) where it was well received for its take on the horror – comedy genre. The music was praised for its homage to the sound of 1930’s film scores.
Ben released a solo instrumental EP in 2020, working with Recorders, Percussion, Ukuleles and Cello, continuing his interest in creating sound worlds for new ensembles. Poets In The Sky is available below and via all major streaming platforms.
