AVAWAVES are Anna Phoebe and Aisling Brouwer – a contemporary virtuoso duo who create ambient soundscapes based on an intricate interplay between violin, piano and electronics. AVAWAVES are rooted in cinematic narratives, evoking emotional journeys of the heart and mind.

The duo’s expansive debut album Waves was released in 2019 on One Little Independent Records. Their second album, Chrysalis was released in 2021 – the album is infused with far-reaching climaxes that simmer into effortless, natural harmony.

Anna Phoebe is a composer and violinist who has recorded and toured throughout the world with multi-platinum selling bands, as well as collaborations with the European Space Agency, Royal Ballet School and Cancer ResearchAisling Brouwer is a film composer and producer who scored the BIFA-nominated anti-racist punk feature White Riot and Lioness – a film directed by Helena Coan about British boxing champion Nicola Adams.

The duo scored the feature documentary Savage Waters directed by Mikey Corker, which had its world premiere as the opening night film at DocLands Documentary Film Festival in 2022. The soundtrack is out now.

Most recently, AVAWAVES have scored the upcoming Apple TV+ series, The Buccaneers, the new eight-episode drama inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel of the same name, from series creator Katherine Jakeways. The first three episodes will be available on Apple TV+ from Wednesday 8th November 2023, followed by new episodes weekly through 13th December.

Coming from mixed European backgrounds (Anna Phoebe is German/Greek/Irish and Aisling Brouwer is Dutch/Irish) and having each grown up moving around multiple countries, they met for the first time in London in 2016.

Keen activists, AVAWAVES played Royal Albert Hall in November 2021 as part of Nitin Sawhney’s ‘Journeys: 150 Years of Immigration’.

AISLING BROUWER est une compositrice classique ambiante avec des connaissances en composition de musique pour film & télévision. Renommée pour sa production électronique et ambiances sonores, mélangées à du piano classique et arrangements de cordes, les clients d’Aisling comprennent la BBC, Channel 4 et JWT, et ses projets film ont été diffusés aux festivals de film Sundance, Tribeca et Berlinale.

ANNA PHOEBE est violoniste et compositrice avec une expérience approfondie en prestations en direct, et qui est apparue sur scène avec une variété d’artistes dont Roxy Music, Bob Dylan et Jethro Tull. En 2017, Anna est apparue dans “Unsigned Heroes” sur Sky Arts, pendant lequel elle a travaillé et presté avec Tony Visconti et Nitin Sawhney. Travaillant maintenant avec The Royal Ballet, Anna travaille actuellement sur un projet ballet avec violoncelliste Nicholas Holland (Balanescu Quartet).

Aisling et Anna collaborent actuellement en tant qu’AVAWAVES, combinant leurs cordes variantes et électroniques sombres dans un style néo-classiques. Leur premier EP, Waves, est actuellement disponible sur toutes les plateformes digitales. Le premier album du duo sortira plus tard cette année.
